Time Out

Sometimes, for lots of different reasons, things just don’t work out.

Sometimes - for lots of different reasons, you might need a little help to sort out difficulties.
So - if you are having difficulties at school…in your relationships with teachers, with friends; just getting on with others, staying out of trouble, feeling scared, settling in and you could use a little help - The Time Out programme may be right for you. At these sessions you will have the opportunity to:

  • Discuss areas of difficulty within school/home-based problems.
  • Plan ways to make a positive change.
  • Put the plans into action and try to resolve your difficulties.
  • The sessions take place at the College’s Village Centre.
  • Your Time Out worker will arrange transport.
TIME OUT is a voluntary project - you do not have to do it. If you do choose to take part you are expected to:
  • Attend sessions regularly and on time.
  • work with your TIME OUT worker to understand the reasons behind your difficulties in School
  • Make a real effort to improve things for yourself and resolve any differences between you and the School.
  • The focus is on YOU. Time Out is YOUR time?
  • We will help you make the best use of the sessions.
  • We will take you seriously, we will listen to you and we will not make judgements or take sides.
  • What you tell a Time Out worker is normally confidential, that means we won’t tell anyone without talking to you first - there are some exceptions to this and we will explain this to you on your first session

TIME OUT is run by the College’s Youth Service and gives YOU the chance to meet with a qualified Youth Worker/teacher for up to six hourly sessions.

The sessions take place during the school day and are spread over a six week period.
