COURSES LEADING TO A QUALIFICATION
Our learners have gained marvellous results in examinations over many years.In 2006, 645 adult students gained a qualification with us.
Key to levels:
- Entry - Entry Level Programmes
- Level 1 – GCSE grades D – G or equivalent
- Level 2 – GCSE grades A* - C or equivalent
- Level 3 – AS and A2 levels or equivalent
Key to abbreviations:
- OCR = Oxford Cambridge and Royal Society of Arts
- C & G = City and Guilds
- CLAIT = Computer Literacy and Information Technology
- ECDL = European Computer Driving Licence
- NOCN = National Open College Network
- NVQ = National Vocational Qualification
- NCFE = Northern College of Further Education
- AS/A2 Level = First part of ‘A’ Level/Second part of ‘A’ Level
COURSES WHICH DO NOT LEAD TO A QUALIFICATION
We run non-accredited courses at three levels:Beginners
You will have little or no experience of the subject.- You would like to begin to learn a new skill or subject with guidance and support.
- You may have out of date skills and would like the chance to refresh them.
- You are happy to identify what you feel has worked well and what hasn’t.
Intermediate
- You would like to try out your new skills and knowledge.
- You like to explore and experiment with new ideas.
- You are happy to work more independently, practise and research at home and in your course group.
- You can identify what you need to do in order to improve.
- You like to discuss your work with others.
Advanced
- You like the challenge of experimenting with new ideas, skills and information.
- You like to share and discuss ideas with others.
- You like to reflect on your own work and evaluate what needs to be done next.
- You are happy and confident to work independently.

More detailed information about all courses listed is available from the Community College Library and the Adult Learning Office at Chalky Road.Our research locally has helped us to offer many new courses for 2006-2007. These include a range of weekday daytime learning opportunities as well as evening and Saturday courses.
